Membership
As a registered charity, we rely on the help and support of volunteers to provide holidays and days out for children and young people with special needs. Not only are our volunteers involved with the activities involving our guests, but all of our fund raising events that are held throughout the year are also organised by our volunteers under the strict guidance of our committee.
Below is an excerpt from our Helper's Handbook that gives an insight as to what is expected from a HHLG helper:
HHLG exists to take children with special needs to Lourdes and on other trips and outings. We can not do this without dedicated help and committed helpers.
Each helper will be assigned a guest for an event whom you will be responsible for throughout the duration of the event/trip. If at any time you feel unable to cope with what is asked of you, please make this known to a committee member. It is essential for your wellbeing and that of the guest that you never struggle on regardless.
We continually look for and welcome volunteers who can help us and there are many different opportunities in which to do so. Not every helper may wish to look after a guest but may play an active role in organising or assisting at a fund raising event. Equally, we hold many different events and activities throughout the year and different helpers may wish to participate at different times - and some may wish to participate in everything! As with all charities, especially smaller organisations such as HHLG, it is the continual addition of volunteers to our group that allows us to continue.
